Achieving ISO 14001 Accreditation : A Commitment to Environmental Excellence

In today's world, sustainability is no longer optional; it's essential. Achieving an ISO 14001 accreditation demonstrates a serious commitment to environmental responsibility and a dedication to minimising the impact we have on the planet.

What is ISO 14001, and how do you achieve accreditation?

ISO 14001 is the international standard for Environmental Management Systems (EMS). Providing a structured framework, it helps organisations identify, manage, monitor and continually improve their environmental performance.

Having recently achieved accreditation, Tencell took the following steps on our journey to ISO 14001 certification.

  Gap Analysis

By reviewing our current environmental practices and checking them against the ISO 14001 requirements, we were able to identify where there were gaps and areas for improvement.

  Developing the EMS

Once gaps had been identified, we established policies, objectives, and procedures that covered environmental aspects, including waste reduction, resource efficiency, and compliance with regulations.

  Implementation and Training

All team members were taken through the EMS and trained on their responsibilities, ensuring that sustainable practices become an integral part of everyday operations.

  Internal Audit and Review

We included the EMS as part of our quarterly management reviews, which capture all elements of our QMS. This ensures we remain vigilant of our environmental commitments and responsibilities.

  External Certification Audit

Once the EMS was fully implemented and we were satisfied with the results, an external auditor conducted an independent review. After a thorough assessment, our EMS was certified.

Earning ISO 14001 accreditation is more than a badge of honour - it shows commitment to continual improvement and responsible business. With sustainability built in to every day operations, we are helping to build a cleaner, greener future.
